A couple shots from the flea market including the Dooney wallet I got for $8!

SO much jewelry.

I experimented with my baking skills the other day when I decided to make peach brown betty for dessert using this recipe from the Loveless Cafe (via the Tennessean). I love driving around this time of year and seeing all of the farmers with their produce stands around town. I got my peaches from a stand on White Bridge Road (really good peaches and the prices are great) and they were soooo tasty I almost didn’t want to bake them. But I went ahead and the dessert turned out pretty good considering my baking skills. It’s warm and sweet which makes it perfect in my book :)
p.s. that’s alot of cinnamon on top it’s not burnt I promise! hehe

sliced and peeled.

This summer I have been obsessed with trying out new drinks that satisfy the requirements of the perfect summer thirst quencher. Something sweet, fruity and cold, and preferably easy to make. Today, I tried out a June Bug using this really simple recipe. They came out really good, but I could have used a little more sherbet, and my brother, after trying a sip decided they needed more ginger ale. You will have to make your own and decide!

I have been itching to read Michele’s Norris’s memoir, The Grace of Silence for a while now. I finally finished it today, and I have to say, I was a little underwhelmed. I love listening to her talk on All Things Considered, but her memoir confused me. I was really caught up reading her story, but then, all of a sudden, I was at the end, and was shocked because I thought, there has to be more to the story than this. I was left feeling like I read an incomplete memoir; perhaps because she didn’t really talk about her rise to becoming a successful journalist. It was more about her personally relationship with her family. Nevertheless, she addressed some important issues like how well we really know our family members and how we have conversations about race in this country. So even though this wasn’t my favorite memoir, I still suggest you give it a read. :)
I love this song!! I heard it at work and had NO idea it was VV Brown’s. It’s so happy and cute but I just assumed it was older because ALL our songs at work are oldies. I still love it just the same though! Enjoy :))
I’m currently in search of a new bike. The one I have now would be super difficult to get to DC from Nashville, and it’s a little small anyway. I’ve been doing some researchin’ and I’ve found some that I like. It really sucks there’s no Walmart in DC (yet) because they have an awesome $89 bike. But I think I found this one I like that is available at Target and the price is not too bad (eh). It’s a Schwinn, which is good because I know they make reliable bikes and it’s a 28” hybrid bike. I like hybrid bikes because they have the cute look of a cruiser but without the weight or the single speed (yikes!). This particular bike has seven gears which makes it practical for DC hills and a bike rack on the back if I ever feel the need to get fancy!

Who know if I’ll actually get this bike. Or any bike And then there’s the question of assembly. The last thing I need is to have the wheels pop off as I ride down Georgia Ave. But for now this is def on my wish list!
